This is a lovely vintage 1943 pin signed Trifari Pat. 136 079. This pin is pictured in Brunialti's book, American Costume Jewelry, pp 119, 120, and are described as 'Rintintin', designed by Alfred Philippe, 1943. He explains that the design is based on keepsake wool or silk figures given by the French to infantry departing for the front in World War I, reviving the tradition in the next war. Measures 1 5/8 tall and 1 3/8 across arms.
